sales certifications and charts

the limited edition error

[edit]

It is said that the asian edition unaffected, is that mean that in Asia there's no error on the CD? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Randyrusli (talkcontribs) 18:03, 14 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]

We could mention that the version on the soundtrack for the Scooby Doo movie is free of problems? Dollvalley (talk) 22:57, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speaking of the limited edition, the "alternate" cover on this page is not neccessary! That cover applies only to the slipcase the CD case is put in. The actual CD cover is the same. So I believe it should be deleted. And I know because I own my own copy of the limited edition.--The Rogue Leader 00:57, 16 October 2009 (UTC)

Hong Kong Certification

[edit]

There used to be a mention of a Hong Kong Gold certification from 2002, but I believe it to be incorrect. The source provided was this page. While the top of the page says "Gold Disc Awards presented" this is in fact the list for the "Hong Kong Top Sales Music Award". The correct page for awards given in 2002 is here and does not include this album. To convince oneself of this, go to the top page and select "Hong Kong Top Sales Music Award" and see where it gets you. --Muhandes (talk) 23:24, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I've tagged the article as needing attention concerning its non-free content. Every sample needs a separate, specific rationale for each article in which it is used, outlining its purpose and explaining why it is necessary. Four samples, at first glance, also seems a little excessive, but judging them would be easier if the file pages contained detailed and appropriately formatted explanations of why they were being used. There is no way that this article can pass at GAC while some of its non-free files lack rationales. J Milburn (talk) 00:11, 6 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, thanks for pointing out. I have removed two samples from the page and provided more detailed "Purpose in article" entries in their rationales for the remaining two. As for the two I removed, I'll provide better descps. soon because I'm kinda running out of time and my main focus is on this article and a maintenance tag will quickfail it. Reviewer: User:Tuzapicabit (talk · contribs) 15:00, 1 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

At first read, the article is well written and very well referenced. Paragraphs and sections are well spaced and laid out. Some points however:

  • A few minor problems in the lead: "The album was later released in the United States on 26 February 2002 and was Minogue's first album release in the region after her second studio album Enjoy Yourself (1989)." This doesn't quite make sense, does it mean it's her first album since rather than after?
Replaced "after" with "since". --WonderBoy1998 (talk) 17:54, 1 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Managed to peak at No.3"? Why managed? Surely it could just say it peaked at No.3.
minus Removed --WonderBoy1998 (talk) 17:54, 1 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Release and Reception section: Re-introduced rather than introduced (in reference to the US market), and is territory the best word?
 Done --WonderBoy1998 (talk) 17:54, 1 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Many times the phrase "to date" is mentioned. To which date? As of 2013 perhaps? Perhaps "it is Minogue's highest-selling album" will suffice, and can be changed if the situation changes. Or a comination of both since saying as of 2013 so many times would be tedious.
 Done --WonderBoy1998 (talk) 17:54, 1 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Impact and legacy section claims that "Can't Get You Out of My Head" is her biggest commercial breakthrough in the US, but the article has earlier said that it was her biggest hit since "The Locomotion".
It is her breakthrough because it got her back in business in the country. "The Locomotion" was her first single and performed well in the US, but later releases performed poorly. The Locomotion was a "hit", but CGYOMH was a "breakthrough". --WonderBoy1998 (talk) 17:54, 1 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Commercial performance section is the most problematic. First entry to the chart and peak positions are fine, but why mention all the last week positions? This information isn't important at all. Also, the UK album charts consists of a top 75, but here lists it as a top 40 - which affects the amount of weeks on chart (as well as its final week's position). The ref given is an archive to the top 40 only. Either find a top 75 archive or mention that the info is limited to the top 40 only.
I've removed the last chart positions and as for the UK chart stuff, I mentioned that it spent "these many weeks" in the "top 40". --WonderBoy1998 (talk) 17:54, 1 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
 Done --WonderBoy1998 (talk) 17:54, 1 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • The See also section seems superfluous
I've sorted it alphabetically now. Is that fine? --WonderBoy1998 (talk) 17:54, 1 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • References need tweaking so that their formats match
I've done some tweaks. Are there any specific references which you think are not consistent? --WonderBoy1998 (talk) 17:54, 1 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Other than these, which are all fairly minor points, the article is very well researched, written and thought out. The number of references is also impressive. Hope this review is of some help.

Thank you so much for the review and comments! Now I think it is time to close it (pass or fail?) --WonderBoy1998 (talk) 17:54, 1 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Add US cover art?

[edit]

The US album cover, rather than replace the standard cover art, may act as the 2nd cover art for the infobox. Also, another album cover of Kylie in a blue dress would be added. Thoughts? --George Ho (talk) 22:31, 3 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Go ahead, as long as you adhere to Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria. The 2nd image would identify the US release. For the blue dress: is this 3rd album cover otherwise almost the same as 1st image? Can the differences be explained in words? If so, don't use it.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 02:05, 7 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

shaidar cuebiyar, I am thinking about removing the US cover that I uploaded. However, I'm worried that it'll lead to edit warring or confusion. Shall I take this to FFD, or shall I have a discussion here? George Ho (talk) 18:17, 23 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • According to Wikipedia:Non-free_content#Images the third image ("Blue Dress") would be an infringement as the same content could be described by a comparison with the first image ("White Dress") which is similar except for the dress colour and absence of the microphone stand.
  • The 2nd image ("US Cover) is completely different, since a satisfactory NFUR has been supplied and the article's text has a discussion of that image I see no problem in keeping "US Cover" as well as the "White Dress".
  • For completeness, a description of "Blue Dress" cover should be added without actually including that image.
  • I see no reason to widen the discussion beyond this talk page unless you wanted to include "Blue Dress" as well as the other two.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 22:41, 23 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm... I don't know, Shaidar. The text says that the US/Asian cover art was also the cover of "In Your Eyes", yet neither article details the image itself. But if my point doesn't change your mind, I'll withdraw a deletion proposal then. George Ho (talk) 05:37, 24 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I had forgotten about the "In You Eyes" usage, well done: you've made an excellent point! I am now convinced that the "US Cover" can be deleted from this article: the explanation and the given wikilink allows a user to be able to identify the US version of Fever. Go ahead remove it from this article.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 06:33, 24 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Oops... I must have overlooked one sentence of Kylie and the bracelet around her teeth. But no matter. I'm sure readers can grasp the text without the US cover unless they go to the "In Your Eyes" page. I hope I did the right thing by removing the image. Recorded timeframe?

[edit]

In a new EPK, uploaded from Kylie's official YouTube profile, she admits recording for Fever began in January 2001, and then spent March to May touring; surely, this means we need to adjust the infobox to represent this? livelikemusic talk! 01:37, 26 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
