Open Defecation
[edit]"Open defecation, the practice of defecating outside without using a toilet of any kind, is still widespread in some developing countries, for example in India.[1]"
This is in the introduction at the moment, surely it should be under culture? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.202.136.234 (talk • contribs) 17:43, 25 January 2018 (UTC)
A new way of wiping
[edit]A new way of wiping has been proposed to lower the abrasion factor of cellulose on the soft tissues of the anus and to increase the overall cleanliness. The process involves creating a larger stack of tissue to cover the hand, and adding hand sanitizer.[1] — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mangotreeleaf (talk • contribs) 22:26, 22 October 2018 (UTC)

Yes, a video of human defecation should be added
[edit]But do not add the old one we need a new one. We also could add a video of a female and a video of a male.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Frost gamer 75 (talk • contribs)
- @Frost gamer 75: You can record video of male and female defecating and upload it to Wikimedia Commons yourself. 36.72.217.40 (talk) 04:54, 27 October 2021 (UTC)

There is a spelling mistake in the Physiology section of the Description (Table of Contents > Description > Physiology > Sentence 4): "If the urge is not acted upon, the material in the rectum is often returned to the colon by reverse peristalsis, where more water is absorbed and the faeces is stored until the next mass peristaltic movement of the transverse and descending colon."
This misspelled word needs to be corrected to "feces". Seventeenyearoldchemist (talk) 05:12, 16 October 2022 (UTC)
- Done not quite a typo, it's an difference between US and UK english. Don't see an established preference on this article so have swapped it - also that was the only occurrence of faeces and feces is used multiple times Cannolis (talk) 05:35, 16 October 2022 (UTC)
- why is a video of a cow defecating on this page? 2600:8801:FB13:6B00:7D5A:649E:973D:8D66 (talk) 17:41, 16 January 2024 (UTC)
Serious cleanup needed
[edit]Well, I started to do some cleanup and copy editing, but then realized this entire article is filled with poor writing. There's a lot of phrasing that's not only awkward and overly wordy, but sometimes just weird. This sentence, for example, left me confounded:
The onset rate keeps updating each year with dramatically increased number and the pathogen of the bowel disease are also complicated due to the complexity of the bowel organs, bowel diseases are diverse in terms of the small and big bowel.
I gave up trying to parse it. After realizing I couldn't figure out how it could possibly be reworked, I finally just deleted it. And with that, I've given up doing any further work on this article. Maybe I'll come back to it later when I'm not so tired. :) I encourage anyone contributing and/or watching to have a go. Yesthatbruce (talk) 03:53, 24 October 2023 (UTC)
